Why kitesurfing in Croatia is a good choice ?

Croatia is an affordable and easily accessible kite destination for the summer.

There are quite a few well-windy spots that will allow intermediates and advanced practitioners to progress. Moreover, apart from kiting, it’s a beautiful destination filled with tourist activities.

Kite cruises in Croatia are starting to appear, which is a great way to discover the country by sea.

Best period and spots to kite in Croatia

There are two main regions for kiteboarding: Istria in the North and the entire coast between Split and Dubrovnik, in the South of the country (especially the spots of Bol and Viganj). It might not necessarily be the best destination for beginners as the launch areas are not convenient. Indeed, the beaches are quite narrow and the coast is rocky.

On the other hand, the landscapes are beautiful and the coastal towns are very nice to visit (especially Split and Dubrovnik).

Best season (for kiting): from May to September (beware, a lot of people in July/August).

Car rental is recommended for getting around and visiting (unnecessary, however, if you plan to stay in one spot, which is possible in Viganj, for example).

It’s still really worth exploring the region a bit!

What are the best non kitesurfing activities ?

Outside of kite, Croatia has incredible treasures to discover. Superb beaches to start with, but also mythical cities like Dubrovnik (a bit too crowded in season, however) or split.

Croatia also has beautiful national parks, such as Krka National Park, which is a must-see.
