Zanzibar is a highly sought-after destination by tourists from all over the world, given the beauty of the island’s colors and landscapes. In Zanzibar, one kitesurfs on vast expanses of turquoise blue water that is rarely seen elsewhere.

While it may not be a destination for big air fans, it’s a good destination to improve in freestyle, with a relatively light wind, and very flat water surfaces.

In Zanzibar, the trade winds prevail, so the wind blows regularly but remains light. Kitesurfers often navigate with large kites. It’s not uncommon to use 15m ones.

Best period and spots to kite in Zanzibar

The main spot for kite surfing is located in Paje (Southeast of Zanzibar), less than an hour from the capital Stone Town and the airport. Flat lagoon, warm water, white sandy beach… the panorama is rather nice, it’s the kind of those found on postcards!
