Banc du Bucheron: kite spot summary
The lumberjack’s bench is located in the northeast of the island, at the entrance of the Ars fiers and close to Loge beach. It is an ideal spot at low tide, when the bench is exposed: there is very little water, so boats cannot access it much, but for kitesurfing, it’s a real treat and the water is flat! (however, you have to walk quite a bit to reach the water).
In terms of wind, it’s better to kite there with east (or possibly north) dominant winds, as it’s safer (the wind blows back towards the beach).
You can park in the beach parking lot and walk a few minutes to get to the spot.
Be careful of the current along the sandbank, it can be very strong and dangerous, especially at low tide as it pulls towards the open sea.
