Fort Bloqué: kite spot summary
The Fort Bloqué spot actually corresponds to Lannénec beach. To access it, you have to go to the center of Ploemeur, then follow the direction of Fort Bloqué.
You can also take the coastal road passing through Guidel beach and continuing south.
The Fort Bloque spot is ideal for a north wind with flat to choppy water (be careful, there can be gusts near the cliffs). And for a northeast and southeast wind, with more chaotic water and the formation of waves.
There are rocks near the fort: they are clearly visible at low tide, and well submerged at high tide. Just be careful at mid-tide if you are not familiar with the area.
The shore break can also be violent at high tide.
There is a designated kite zone in the summer due to the crowds.
Recommended kite size and wind: It’s difficult to generalize, it really depends on the day. In the summer, a 12m kite is often recommended. The rest of the time, it’s usually the 9/10m kites that are used, with a 7m for stronger winds.
If you are looking for other kite spots more suitable for your level, you can also find the one that will make you happy on the Brittany kite spot guide.
