Zaafarana: kite spot summary
The Zaafarana spot is located 2 hours from Cairo (in the North of Egypt), overlooking the Red Sea.
It is a kind of oasis in the desert, lost in the middle of nowhere. There is plenty of space and few people, making it a very peaceful place. The spot is clearly not overcrowded with hotels.
The lagoon is ultra flat and shallow, making it ideal for all levels, freestyle… etc. However, besides kitesurfing, there is not much else to do on site. That being said, Egypt is a fascinating country, so a great destination for those who want to mix kitesurfing and sightseeing (however, be cautious of the fluctuating political situation in recent years).
