Kitesurf at Poste Lafayette

The Poste Lafayette spot is a beautiful spot. It is located north of Belle Mare, about a 20-minute drive away, where the coral reef ends. It is accessible once again via the public beach.

It forms an almost enclosed bay on one side, making it the perfect place to learn or practice tricks.

There are also great waves for beginners on the reef, and a completely flat lagoon in front. There is something for everyone.

The wind is side on if you start from the public beach, and if you go upwind to the reef, you can surf with wind on this time.

The waves are easy and spaced out, the water is completely flat between each wave, and the water color is incredible. (not to mention there is a bottom, which prevents falling on the reef)

There is nothing at Poste Lafayette, just a large expanse of sand and grass, protected by filaos, for resting, picnicking, and taking off.

Be careful, there are a lot of weapon shells in the water, extremely sharp shells that hide in the algae most of the time. It is better to wear booties or simply not touch the ground.

You can touch the bottom quite far from the beach, but then you have access to a deeper area ideal for jumping safely.

Pros: no crowds – perfect for beginners and improving skills – turquoise lagoon – ideal for families – great setting

Cons: shorter windy season than at Le Morne (May to October max) – no infrastructure.
