Kitesurf at Sidi Kaouki

The Sidi Kaouki spot is a Moroccan spot that is still underdeveloped, but offers superb conditions for waveriding. It is also a very good surfing spot.

Located 25 km south of Essaouira, it is easily accessible by bus (line 2), car, or taxi (10 Dh per person + equipment supplement). You need to follow the road to Agadir for about 17 km and then turn right towards Sidi Kaouki, which is 11 km further.

The village of Sidi Kaouki is a small, typical village, quite remote and very peaceful. However, you will find everything you need for a perfect stay. There are a good number of small guesthouses and hotels.

The spot is a long sandy beach, at least 4 km long, and quite wide which allows for easy rigging and take-off. There aren’t too many people there yet (but that may change soon), only walkers, camels, and horses wandering around!

The North wind blows side to side-off, very consistently, especially in the summer: it can reach up to 40 knots! It is often ideal to surf in the morning and kite in the afternoon when the wind picks up (usually after lunch).

There are many sand banks on the spot that offer superb conditions for waveriding: beautiful hollow waves, of a good size (up to 2.5m, then it saturates) and offshore wind! It is a spot for experienced surfers (or at least intermediate) as the waves are powerful and the shore break can be violent, not recommended for beginners!

You can easily rent equipment or leave your own in storage on the beach.
