Kitesurf at La baie d'étoile

The Star Bay spot is located at the very north of Mauritania, on the Atlantic Ocean.

The spot is close to the city of Nouadhibou (only 12 km away) and is just 400 km south of Dakhla.

To get there, there are several options:
– you can take a flight from Paris to Nouadhibou with a stopover in Nouakchott, Casablanca or Gran Canaria (please note that flights are not daily)
– or you can go through Dakhla and organize a transfer through the desert in a 4×4 to finish the journey and cross the border.

Kite level and conditions:
If there is one thing that no one can deny, it is that the spot is almost untouched and deserted! Pelicans, flamingos, and camels are almost the only spectators.
The spot is located in a huge bay, and benefits from a large flat lagoon: a speed spot close to the take-off area and a huge expanse of water for kiting and exploring, which will delight freeride and freestyle enthusiasts.

In terms of wind, the best time to go is from February to September (November to January should be avoided). The wind statistics are almost similar to those of Dakhla, meaning consistent and regular wind that tends to pick up in the afternoon.
The ideal quiver would therefore be, for an average build: a 7 and a 10.

In conclusion, this spot and destination are a must-see for nature lovers and those looking for untouched spots. There is huge potential there and very beautiful conditions. However, it is important to pay attention to health and safety.
