Safety Bay: kite spot summary
Slightly south of Perth (45 minutes by car), Safety Bay is a reassuring spot, as its name suggests.
The spot gives access to two kiteboarding areas separated by a sandbar:
– On the protected side, the water is super flat, ideal for freestyle.
– On the ocean side, the water is more choppy and attracts most beginners, who are not allowed to kite in the flat water area.
However, be aware that while the spot may seem ideal, it also attracts a lot of people and can quickly become crowded.
Pros: proximity to Perth, large flat water area, spot equipped with showers and toilets.
Cons: high crowds during the season.
Note: the risk of shark encounters is obviously not zero, but attacks remain rare.
