Union Island: kite spot summary
The kite spot of Union Island is located in the middle of the Grenadines and it is a true paradise for kiteboarding.
It can be accessed directly from Barbados (direct flight) as the island has its own airport. Union Island is not far from Mayreau Island and the Tobago Cays.
You can kite in different spots on this island: – on the main beach (Clifton): where the JT Pro Center is located. It is a flat spot with a large lagoon of turquoise water, ideal for improving skills (for beginners, it is better to take lessons). Access is free for customers, paid for others. – at Big Sand: a spot with perfect and relatively easy to kite waves. They are also great for surfing. – at Frigate: a flat spot 10 minutes from the main beach. Located near Ashton (the other village on the island), this spot has a beautiful lagoon where the wind often blows offshore, making it a great playground.
Union Island is a good base for exploring the Grenadines. Check with your hotel to visit neighboring islands for the day.
