Holbox: kite spot summary
Holbox’s kite spot is an island in Mexico, located 2 hours north of Cancun. It stretches over 12km long and 1.5 km wide, and it’s a little paradise: no cars in the town center, the locals are usually fishermen, and the pace of life is very peaceful.
For kiting, the main beach (1.5 km long) is perfect: the water is turquoise and there is plenty of space to kite. You can stand on the water for 100m, so it’s ideal for beginners. However, be aware that sometimes the wind blows offshore. But since you can stand for a good part of the spot, the place remains very accessible.
The island is very “nature-oriented” and with a little luck, you can enjoy turtles, whales, dolphins, or pelicans.
Access is by boat from Chiquila (4/5€ one way).
