Patos: kite spot summary
The kitesurf spot of Patos is a small corner of well-preserved paradise and ideal for a kitesurfing stay in Brazil.
Patos is a bit isolated, there is not much on the spot, but it remains easily accessible by car. Once there, you discover a large lagoon, which promises a flat and shallow water plan, making it ideal for beginners to learn, but also for more experienced riders to progress.
The water plan is optimal for those looking to progress in freestyle, and the strong wind that blows every afternoon will also delight fans of big air, a very popular discipline at the moment.
At high tide, the lagoon fills up, providing a nice flat sea arm 200m wide for 2-3km long, a nice playground for long rides. Those who prefer wave riding will prefer mid-tide and high tide to enjoy the waves breaking on the ocean side.
As the tide goes out, the lagoon empties, leaving only the ocean to enjoy the wind. Bad news for beginners? Not even! With the tide receding, the ocean water becomes flat and shallow. It is indeed protected by sandbanks, which make the water plan ideal for beginners and freestylers. Ultimately, at low tide, only surfers will be disappointed.
