Kitesurf at Barra Grande

The kite spot of Barra Grande is one of the northernmost spots in the Nordeste: located 2 hours from Jericoacoara, it is not easily accessible in one go from Fortaleza. It is better to take advantage of the journey to discover other spots along the way (Icarai, Ilha Do Guajiru, Cumbuco, Jeri… you have the choice!) Barra Grande is a true paradise, both for kiting and for a relaxing vacation. The village is very authentic, the beaches are extremely quiet… The wind blows very strong (it has already been a stage of the PKRA) and steady. The people are lovely and the atmosphere is relaxed. Barra Grande does not experience the hustle and bustle or crowds of some spots near Fortaleza, it is a kind of little paradise far from everything. Regarding kiteboarding, the conditions are ideal: at low tide, the water retreats and you can kite in a kind of saltwater lagoon (sea side). You can easily touch the bottom everywhere, perfect for beginners (be careful not to jump too close to the shore to avoid breaking an ankle). At high tide, the chop appears and nice ramps form. There are many downwinds to do in the region and beautiful lagoons to explore (La Boca 15 minutes away by kite, ideal at low tide for example).
