Kitesurf at El Cotillo

The kite spot of El Cotillo is a spot located in the North West of Fuerteventura, in a fairly remote location. It is a large beach over 1km long, interspersed with rocky areas and swept by wind generally oscillating between side on and side off.

The spot changes its face according to the season:
– It is a good wave spot in winter (famous waves, also very popular for surfing), where intermediates and experienced riders can have a great time
– and a more accessible spot in summer since the waves are much smaller, or even completely absent. It is ideal for beginners / intermediates or those looking for a flatter water.

The best season for wind is often summer (from April to October), a period during which you are almost guaranteed to have wind (generally between 15 and 25 knots – kite size between 9 and 12). But the rest of the year can also be favorable, with very good regular sessions.

To get to the spot, follow the village “El Cotillo”. Upon arriving, turn left and take the dirt track that runs along the beach, heading south. You will see the large beach of Cotillo. Kiters usually gather in the middle of the beach. (thanks to Tommy from magma kite fuerteventura for the advice!)
