El Medano: kite spot summary
The most well-known and exploitable spot in Tenerife is the kite spot of El Medano, a village located in the south of the island, close to the Reine-Sophie international airport.
The beach at the spot is a large black sand beach, which allows for easy take-off. It is mainly a spot for waves (or large chop depending on the tide) for intermediates and advanced kiters, although the bay of El Medano is quite safe.
In fact, there are 2 spots, El Medano and Tajita, separated by a small point, which work complementarily depending on the wind direction. When the wind blows onshore at El Medano, Tajita is offshore and offers beautiful flat conditions.
It is advisable to have a car to move around and go to the spot.
