Gokova: kite spot summary
The kite spot of Gokova, in Turkey, is located 1h30 drive from Bodrum airport, and 1h from Dalaman. The biggest city nearby (for going out at night or shopping) is Marmaris, 25 minutes away.
Like all spots in the region, Gokova works best in the summer.
It is a flat spot (sometimes choppy depending on the wind), which offers regular wind (15/25 knots) almost every afternoon during the season. The wind is side-on and the water is shallow for a long distance, making it suitable for beginners.
You have to pay 5 euros to access the spot and like many other places, it can be quite crowded in July/August.

Gokova is a spot that works on a thermal wind regime. A wind present only in the summer. This type of wind is a local phenomenon, often not taken into account by weather forecasts.
