Kitesurf at Huahine

Huahine is one of the islands of the Polynesian archipelago. It is located 170 km northwest of Tahiti and about 80 km from Bora Bora, and consists of two islands (Huahine Nui and Huahine Iti) connected by a bridge. On each island there are four villages, with the main one called Fare (pronounced faré). The population is around 6000 inhabitants.

The island offers an incomparable quality of life and has managed to stay away from mass tourism. Everyone knows each other and you are welcomed with simplicity and the joy of living: no luxury hotels, but small family guesthouses or charming small hotels.

For kiteboarding enthusiasts, nature lovers will be delighted! Every day there are different spot options, even more if you organize yourself to ride in immense turquoise lagoons. From flat water, to small waves or even big waves, you can find everything in this paradise corner.

The downside: the distance. It is a destination that is worth it and requires a certain budget. But in return, it is a trip you won’t forget. You should plan a minimum amount of time to enjoy it, and it is best to be self-sufficient to make the most of all the corners the island has to offer. (beginners can also progress, but the maximum potential of the island is more suitable for intermediate and advanced riders)

To get there: from the island of Tahiti (Papeete) there is the option of taking the schooner (boat taporo) or the Air Tahiti plane (30 minutes flight).
