Why kitesurfing in Philippines is a good choice ?

The Philippines is undoubtedly the best kitesurfing destination in Asia. From this, it can be understood that planning a kite trip in the country is an excellent idea.

Moreover, there are a lot of tourist attractions apart from kitesurfing, and it’s a trip that promises its share of exoticism with absolutely paradisiacal landscapes. The possibilities in the Philippines are endless, making it a unique trip.

Best period and spots to kite in Philippines

The most famous spot is Boracay (flat spot), a small paradise island with vibrant colors located right in the middle of the archipelago. To get there, you have to land in Manila or Cebu, then take a flight to Caticlan or Kalibo and finally a boat (10min from Caticlan).

It’s a long journey, but it’s worth it (possible with family but better to plan the trip in advance).

Be aware, Boracay is still very touristy.

Otherwise, there are other spots for kiting. Those who like wave riding will naturally head towards Kingfisher, in the north of the Philippines.

And freestyle enthusiasts can be tempted by Cuyo, an island with ultra flat spots, but where the wind will be lighter.

The best season to go there is from November to March. The rest of the time, you risk being confronted with the monsoon which is quite violent.

Additional tips

There are quite a few tropical diseases in the Philippines. Be sure to do your research before you go, depending on the itinerary you plan to follow (especially for malaria).

Avoid tap water as much as possible.

Domestic flights in the Philippines are not very expensive, and it is important to remember to reserve your boardbag before the flight to avoid sometimes exorbitant fees. If you decide to explore the Philippines by taking boat lines, do not underestimate the time it can take: irregular lines, google map indicates 6 hours but in the end it is much more. It is better to do less, but better.

What are the best non kitesurfing activities ?

The kitesurf spots in the Philippines are gathered on only a few islands. Knowing that the Philippines has more than 7000 islands, you can imagine that there must be a lot of things to see throughout the country.

Some islands are more or less touristy, it’s up to you to see what you are looking for. Overall, you will be amazed by the idyllic scenery.
