Kitesurf in Tenerife : all you need to know
Tenerife is a tourist island of the Canary archipelago. Not the ultimate kitesurfing destination, for that we rather prefer Fuerteventura which will be more suitable.
However, the best season is between May and October.
The preferred spot in Tenerife is El Medano.

Why kitesurfing in Tenerife is a good choice ?
Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands. It’s not the ultimate kite destination, but the island is really great from a tourist point of view.
If you want to spend your holidays sailing 7 days a week, you can probably find better. However, if you’re going with family, or you want to mix kiting, beach, and excursions, you can aim for the spot of El Medano, in the south of the island, which is a very good compromise.
Best period and spots to kite in Tenerife
There’s really only one spot to kitesurf in Tenerife, and that’s El Medano spot. It’s not a high-quality spot, even though the bay is quite safe. The spot gets waves or a good chop.
Best season (for kiting): May to October.

Additional tips
If Tenerife is not a world-renowned island for kitesurfing, it is however a great destination for a family trip: between the sandy beaches, the sun, the sports activities and the numerous hiking trails, there is something for everyone!
Aigle Azur, Easyjet and Iberia operate direct flights to Santa Cruz de Tenerife (TFS) from Paris. Most other airlines make a stopover in Madrid or Barcelona.
What are the best non kitesurfing activities ?
This question is funny for a destination where kite is secondary, or even more. There is actually almost everything to do on this island besides kitesurfing.
If you want to stay close to the ocean, there are good surf spots. Otherwise, it will be hikes in natural parks, beaches, and visiting the city classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
