Kitebeach Table View: kite spot summary
Slightly north of the Cape Town metropolitan area, the Kitebeach spot, very popular with kiters, is accessible from the town of Table View.
Unlike the rest of the spots on the coast that receive consistent or even radical waves, Kitebeach is protected by Robben Island offshore, and therefore offers a water surface suitable for freeride, even though it remains very choppy and rough.
However, if you want to enjoy a great atmosphere, meet lots of kiters, or take advantage of the facilities on the beach, this is the place to go!
Pros: kite atmosphere – facilities – safety (lifeguards) – secure parking
Cons: choppy water – very cold water – risks related to sharks
Tips:
Table View is located about twenty kilometers north of Cape Town, the iconic city for kiteboarding in South Africa.
If the water surface is crowded at Kitebeach, you will probably find fewer people a few kilometers north at Big Bay (where the level is also higher).
On the other hand, if you want to learn kiteboarding, slightly south is where you will find the ideal spot: Dolphin Bay.
