Kitesurf at Lagoinha

The kite spot of Lagoinha is located in Ceara, between Paracuru (to the south – about 30kms) and Guajiru (to the north). It is accessible from Fortaleza in 1h30/2h by car – a well-served route. It is a beautiful small village overlooking the sea, which has managed to maintain its authenticity (rather calm during the week, the village comes to life more on weekends). In terms of kite level, Lagoinha offers beautiful navigation conditions, very versatile, between waves and flat water. There are 2 distinct spots:

– La Lagoa do Jegue, a beautiful flat lagoon surrounded by sand dunes. It is an ideal place for learning or freestyle, with shallow water and smooth water surface. It can be reached in 7/8 minutes by buggy or downwind.

– The spot by the sea, in front of the village, which is bordered by a large sandy beach with side onshore wind. At low tide, the water is flat to choppy, but with the rising tide, it quickly becomes a good spot for waves (offshore or on the right side of the spot), ideal for those who want to try or improve in strapless surfing. Lagoinha is therefore a very versatile spot that satisfies beginners as well as experienced riders, flat water enthusiasts as well as wave enthusiasts.

As almost everywhere in the region, the wind is regular and consistent in Lagoinha: it blows strong every day from July to December.

There are also many downwind trips to do in the area, you can even descend from Fortaleza, passing through Cumbuco, Taiba, and Paracuru…

NB: Like everywhere in Brazil, once a year in early December during the equinox tides, we have the biggest waves of the year with coefficients much higher than average.

Best season for kite: from July to December (recommended kite sizes: a 6/7 and a 9/10 will be appreciated).
