Los Roques: kite spot summary
The kite spot of Los Roques, off the coast of Venezuela (155kms – 1 hour by plane from Caracas – around 100€ round trip) and located not far from Margarita, is an archipelago of about fifty islets. It is the most important marine national park in the Caribbean.
A real giant playground for kiters, the water is turquoise and shallow (like in the other spots in the area), and there are world-renowned spots.
The only inhabited island is Gran Roques. Two possibilities: stay on this island (and discover the spots during the day) or explore the archipelago by boat on a cruise. It’s worth staying for a while, you won’t get tired of it!
The wind stats are incredible: 20 to 30 knots, every day from 10am to 6pm during the peak season (from December to May).
There are spots everywhere, on almost every island: wherever you are, the spots will be between 5 minutes and 45 minutes by boat (at very affordable prices, around 10€/day): Francisqui, Cayo Fabian, Crasqui, Cayo De Agua…
