Meridien: kite spot summary
Located just in front of the Méridien hotel, in the south of New Caledonia, it is THE ultimate freestyle spot: it offers regular offshore wind and super flat water (you must at least know how to tack upwind).
If you are a beginner, this spot is not for you (offshore wind), but you can take lessons in the open sea in Anse Vata. Or you can go to the Aquareve spot, located right next to it, which receives side wind and is easier. (the lagoon is larger so even though it’s a bit less flat than at the Méridien, there is plenty of room to sail peacefully).
Beware of low tide which exposes coral heads.
Pros: easy access – ideal for freestyle – super flat – boardshort sailing – turquoise lagoon
Cons: selective spot – dangerous at low tide
