Paje: kite spot summary
Paje is a village located in the southeast of the island of Zanzibar, bordered by a large white sandy beach and translucent sea. It is the main spot on the island and where most kite schools and structures are located.
The spot extends over a large flat area, a turquoise lagoon protected by the coral reef.
Beginners can stand most of the time (except for certain hours in case of high tides) throughout the lagoon, making learning easy. The wind comes in side-on and there are some waves on the reef.
Zanzibar experiences trade winds, making the wind fairly light. It is advisable to bring large kite sizes (12m+ most of the time).
Tips: Beginners should wear booties to avoid stepping on sea urchins.
