Port Gregory: kite spot summary
Located 1 hour north of Geraldton on the West Coast of Australia, Port Gregory is a fairly isolated spot that offers ideal conditions for freeriding: consistent wind, a large wild beach with white sand, and a large flat to choppy body of water, protected by a reef about 500 meters from the shore.
There is a parking lot with showers and toilets available at the spot, as well as a campground and a convenience store, but not much else!
The risk of shark encounters is obviously not zero, although attacks remain rare.
Pros: consistent wind – ideal for freeriding – wild beach
Cons: risks related to sharks – isolation – insects and critters
From Perth, Geraldton is about 1 hour by plane or 4.5 hours by car.
