Porto Pollo: kite spot summary
Porto Pollo is the most famous spot in the North of Sardinia (just opposite Bonifacio). It is located on a fairly narrow peninsula and therefore provides access to 2 navigation areas on either side of the peninsula.
Unfortunately, the East area, which is flat due to its side-offshore exposure, is reserved for windsurfing.
But the West area, a large bay with side-onshore exposure, is open to everyone. It is also safer, more wild and much larger.
Add to that the reinforced West winds due to the proximity of Sardinia to Corsica, a turquoise and warm sea in July/August… In short, it’s easy to understand why Porto Pollo has become a good kite spot for the summer!
The pros: reinforced wind – mix of wild beach and kite atmosphere
The cons: mass tourism in summer – no kite on the offshore side
There are A LOT of people in August, so it’s better to arrive early if you want to find a parking spot.

This spot works very well thanks to the reinforcement of thermal winds in summer. This wind, which is not taken into account in the wind statistics of the table, strengthens the wind almost every afternoon by several knots. This way, we ride on more than 80% of the days at Porto Pollo.
