Punta Trettu: kite spot summary
Punta Trettu is a spot on a huge lagoon located at the very south of Sardinia, on the side of Cagliari.
This spot became popular about ten years ago, and the region offers different starting spots around the lagoon. Punta Trettu is the most well-known, and most schools are located around it.
The spot consists of a sandy strip that extends into the lagoon, with a sandbank at the end that serves as a take-off area. Once in the air, the playing space is huge, covering almost the entire lagoon. However, be careful not to enter the channels reserved for boats leaving the small ports.
This spot will surely delight freestyle enthusiasts who will find a very flat spot in all wind conditions. Even at 20 knots, the spot is extremely flat! This is due to the numerous shallow areas, and certainly to the algae that cover the bottom of the water.
This lack of depth also makes it an ideal spot to learn and progress in a spot that poses absolutely no danger.

What is the best period to go kitesurfing toPunta Trettu?
At Punta Trettu, the wind can blow globally all year round thanks to the Mistral which provides nice north-west flows, ideal for the Punta Trettu spot. When the good weather returns and it starts to get hot, the wind is often reinforced by thermals between the months of April and October.
With the Sirocco, the south wind, the Punta Trettu spot can become a bit gusty. In these cases, you will have to fall back on spots further south, in the lagoon, especially on the side of Kitehouse Sardinia.
