Sakalava: kite spot summary
The Sakalava spot is located at the very North of Madagascar, close to Diego Suarez bay (on the other side of the bay where Babaomby spot is located). If you have time, it’s great to visit both places (staying overnight at each location).
Covering an area of about 2.2 km² and protected by a coral reef barrier, Sakalava bay is a spot that allows for safe navigation, with a side-on wind that will always bring you back to the beach.
Ideal for beginners (possibility to take lessons), as well as for freeride practice: side-onshore wind, warm and turquoise water, gentle slope for launching. And for more experienced riders, there are easily accessible reef waves.
Note: It is necessary to travel a long and chaotic road to reach Sakalava. The spot is isolated, far from everything. There are very good accommodations on site: it’s the most convenient solution for lodging.
