San Foca: kite spot summary
The San Foca spot is an Italian spot, located in the region of Puglia, in the heel of Italy’s boot.
It is located on the East side of the Boot, just before Torre Specchia Ruggeri, heading towards Otranto from San Cataldo via the coastal road.
The water is flat to choppy, with a full side wind. It is not ideal for beginners or those who are not completely autonomous because if something goes wrong, you can end up far downwind (there is no bay to secure the place).
The sea is turquoise, and there are very few people in the water (a few kites and Marco Rao’s school, which often comes there to give lessons, but it is quite peaceful, even in summer).
It is a good spot to visit the region, but the beach is not beautiful (quite a lot of trash) and there are no facilities, so it is not ideal to bring the whole family, for example.
Most people are on 12m+, as the wind is never very strong, except for occasional gusts.
