San Francisco: kite spot summary
San Francisco offers many possibilities for kitesurfing: from magical sessions under the famous Golden Gate Bridge to wave sessions on the coast to flat water sessions inside the bay.
In short, there are spots in the city itself in an extraordinary setting, as well as wilder spots that receive the famous swells of the Pacific.
Not to mention that the city itself is very relaxed and pleasant to live in.
Pros: San Francisco atmosphere – variety of spots – extraordinary setting – consistent wind
Cons: very cold water
Some additional information:
San Francisco Airport is well served: there are even some direct flights from Paris (about 12 hours). But you have to book in advance as it can be quite expensive…
You absolutely need a car, whether it’s to move from spot to spot or to go shopping!
To ride under the Golden Gate Bridge, you have to go to Crissy Fields spot but be careful beginners: the sideshore wind and current push out to sea.
For wave riding enthusiasts, slightly south of San Francisco, there is an excellent beach break at Waddell Creek.
