Shark Bay, sur l'île de Sal: kite spot summary
Located on the East Coast, South of the island of Sal (the main island of Cape Verde), Kitebeach spot, also known as Shark Bay or Fragata, is suitable for all levels (NB: there are no sharks, contrary to what its name suggests).
It is a huge lagoon which offers plenty of space for freeride enthusiasts, as well as a reef 300 meters from the shore for wave lovers.
The spot is side-onshore exposed but is not monitored, so not ideal for beginners to go alone.
Pros: wild beauty – secure onshore wind – versatile spot
Cons: no infrastructure – quite crowded – reef exposed at low tide
The spot is located 15 minutes from Santa Maria by car. You can take a taxi to get there.
