Vargas: kite spot summary
Vargas kite spot is one of the most renowned on the island of Gran Canaria. It is located on the East of the island, very close to the airport.
It is a spot for experienced wave riders. Ideally, it is best to kite there in the summer, as the wind is stronger. The rest of the year, it is a good spot for surfing.
The beach at the spot is a 4 km long black pebble beach, which provides plenty of space for launching and riding. Not ideal for families, however, as swimming is not recommended.
There are plenty of wave spots in the area, which you can easily explore if you have a car: Pozo, Ketchup, Maspalomas… Don’t hesitate to ask the locals for advice.
