El Gouna: kite spot summary
El Gouna is located north of Hurghada and the international airport (approximately 25 km away).
It is a kind of large, relatively recent village, with rather amusing architecture. However, do not expect a very authentic setting (mostly luxury hotels and all-inclusive resorts).
Like on other spots in Egypt, the kiteboarding area is flat, shallow, and with regular wind (side onshore in El Gouna). Kiteboarders can ride on the private beach of Mangroovy Beach, north of the village. The spot is huge, making it easy for beginners to learn and providing a good space for advanced riders to progress. Additionally, the scenery of the spot is very beautiful, with the Red Sea and mountains in the background.
Tourism has accelerated in this destination, resulting in a variety of accommodation options. There are mostly large hotels and numerous facilities for a complete stay in this artificial village. Kite spots with beach clubs are often accessible from the hotel with a free shuttle.
While the best period is between April and late September, kiteboarding can generally be enjoyed all year round in El Gouna.
