Kitesurf at Jericoacoara

The kite spot of Jericoacoara is located 5 hours north of Fortaleza. It is one of the most well-known places in the Brazilian Nordeste: it welcomes people from all over the world (kiters or not) who come to enjoy the sunset from the immense golden sand dune overlooking the village. With a little caipirinha, you won’t get tired of it!

The village of Jeri is not paved, all the paths are sandy which gives it a very charming side. It is the top spot for partying in the north of Brazil, with many bars and restaurants, a wide choice of accommodations, and small shops.

As for kitesurfing, the wind blows from July to January without interruption (or almost), from morning to night. And the conditions are diverse: the possibility of renting buggys to explore the inland lagoons, improving skills on the waves off the bay (to the right looking at the sea), flat areas in front of the village (however, be careful, the wind blows offshore). However, it is not necessarily the ideal place for beginners (unless with an instructor).

Jeri is a good stopover for a few days, whether for kiting or not. It is mainly the landscape that is worth the detour!
