Macabou: kite spot summary
The Macabou spot is located south of Le Vauclin, a 5/10 minute drive away. You can kite in the cove of Petit Macabou or, more ideally, in that of Grand Macabou. To access it, follow the signs for Anse du Macabou, then take a sort of track for 5 minutes before parking under the trees.
The beach of Petit Macabou is a mix of sand and algae (depending on the period there may be a lot or a little), and the water is fairly calm: it’s more choppy than at Le Vauclin, but still pleasant, especially since there are not many people (or even none!).
The wind is side-on, blowing from the port side. The lagoon is quite large, and you can easily reach the beach of Grand Macabou downwind (the beach is larger than Petit Macabou and more shorebreak at the edge). However, be careful, you need to think about going back upwind, especially if the wind is light.
