The wind blows very regularly on the Guajira peninsula, this indigenous territory in the very north of Colombia.
It is in this setting combining desert, ocean and lagoon that you will learn or improve your kitesurfing skills. On site, a team of passionate instructors are waiting for you.
Certified IKO instructors internationally, who only want to share their passion and expertise. Their goal: to make you independent in kiteboarding, and see you come out of the water with a smile. Their teaching is methodical and meets the safety requirements of the IKO:
- Understanding the wind, kite equipment and safety rules
- Kite control, and “self rescue” (how to return to the beach and secure yourself in case of a problem)
- Body dragging without and then with the board: essential to learn how to retrieve your board, and understand the power of your kite
- Board recovery: a crucial step to become an independent rider
- Waterstart and first rides

Going on a kite trip in the desert of Guajira is choosing adventure. On the spot of Mayapo, we live to the rhythm of the sun within the Wayuu community originating from this region of Colombia.
Wind statistics are excellent in this region, where wind failures are rare. This allows for optimal kite practice conditions, ensuring great progress during the stay.

Price formulas
According to your level and desires, Coco Kite Colombia offers many packages. Depending on your level, whether you are a complete beginner or even an advanced independent rider, there is a formula for you. If you have any doubts, you can even ask directly to the Coco Kite Colombia team who will be happy to guide you.
Private lessons
Private lessons are sessions with one student and one instructor. This formula is ideal for those who want a rapid progression, with the advice of an instructor focused 100% on you.
- From zero to independent rider: 12 hours of kite spread over 3 days. This package is for those who want to discover kitesurfing and become independent. Price: $570 (2% of which is donated to the Inay association)
- Kite progression: 8 hours of kite spread over 2 days. This package is for those who have already had an initiation and are looking to become independent without starting from scratch. Price: $490 (2% of which is donated to the Inay association)
- Kite initiation: 2 hours of kite in one day. For the curious who have a day ahead of them and wonder if kitesurfing could become their next passion. Price: $110 (2% of which is donated to the Inay association)
- Advanced lessons: Coco Kite offers personalized coaching for independent riders looking to take their skills to the next level: jump higher, ride toeside, learn new tricks… Price: $75 for one hour, $140 for 2 hours
Semi-private lessons
Semi-private lesson packages are sessions with one instructor for two students who share equipment. This formula is a good option for those who want to learn as a couple or with a friend, to learn from each other’s mistakes, laugh at each other’s falls, and potentially encourage each other.
- Rider kickstart: a 6-hour kite package over two days, to get towards the first rides (and first falls). To become independent, a few more hours of training will be needed. Price: $235/person (2% of which is donated to the Inay association)
- Kite discovery: a 3-hour kite package in one day, to experience the sensations of kitesurfing with a partner. Price: $120/person (2% of which is donated to the Inay association)
